After yet another deadly battle, the Union army in which Blutch and Chesterfield serve find itself without a hospital. The dearth of doctors is widespread, though, and to give the wounded a chance at surviving, the Union has no choice but to send ... a woman: Mary Edward Walker, a qualified and experienced doctor, yet one received with scorn and mistrust. And her abrasive personality doesn't help matters - especially as she's also fiercely opposed to smoking and drinking!
